SW Florida .Net Developers Group

Holdin' it down for .Net development on the Platinum Coast of FL

Here we are. It’s December, and we’ve had transitions, high points, and low points.

We hope you join us as we have one last meeting for 2010, with great topics, great local speakers, and holiday festivities. And our newest community: SW Florida’s freshly-kicked off SQLPASS Community, led by Bob Fleming.

We’ll go December 16th, at our new venue at 6:30pm. County Administration Building F is at the south end of Airport-Pulling, where it meets Hwy 41 (East Trail).

Admittedly, it’s been a little slow for us to get out of the blocks after our third successful Code Camp in a row. We hope all of you got your fill of great content on .Net, Win Phone 7, and other great development subjects.

Our regular User Group meetings resume with the triumphant return of Max Trinidad to SW Florida, giving us a digestible, accessible tour of some excellent technology in “Working with Powershell,” coming to our usual spot at 2210 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples on Tuesday, October 26th, at 6:30pm. Doors will open at 6pm.

Max, for those of you unfamiliar, is a Microsoft MVP for Powershell and the foremost expert on that topic in the Florida .Net developer community. MVP profile

In case you missed the media firestorm that was last night’s announcement of Open Registration and Call for Speakers at the SW Florida .Net Code Camp 2010, here it is again.

Head yourself over to http://codecamp.swfldev.net, and hit the Sign In button if you’re at least coming to the event. You’ll need a valid Microsoft Live ID to play, but you can customize your profile information, including the email where you want to receive Code Camp messages, and it doesn’t have to match.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

I’ll make this brief.

Best idea for a Windows Phone 7 Application (non-corporate owned) for the Marketplace, as voted on by those present at the August Group Meeting (on 8/17/2010, at Ingage Networks, 2210 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples – doors at 6pm, presentation starts at 6:30pm), gets:

  • an MSDN Ultimate Subscription
  • the last half of Kevin Wolf (@bytemaster)’s presentation devoted to getting you started.

Must be present to win. Can, however, think it up on the fly during the first hour, but do not interrupt Kevin with questions about your idea. And I can tell who’s come to Group, and who’s just there to stack the vote.

Decisions of the President are final.

Greetings, Devs!

Follow me beyond the jump for a comprehensive list of design resources that will help you take what you learned at Diane Leeper’s outstanding presentation last Tuesday, and run with it. Plus some of my own.

Enjoy!

John
